So I was scrolling that MK website and I decided to give MK1 a look. I’ll admit I haven’t played it because I actually do pay attention to MK lore and I was scared to even look at it. So I was checking out the character rooster and what did I see…?

Kurtis Fuckin’ Striker! We legit have not seen this character in a full decade. The last time he was in a game was MK9 (MK2011) and he was revamped and modernized. Being the 2010’s this included some edgy humor that was deemed harmless at the time by the general population. He’s a cop, so there were a couple police brutality jokes. In his intro he would say “Police brutality comin’ up!” and his x-ray would just be straight up police brutality. There wasn’t any ill intent meant by it I’m sure at the time that was just a goofy gag b/c he was a cop, but by the time MKX came around Striker was no where to be seen. He was gone. NRS scrubbed him from the canon.

Since MK9 police hatred just shot up (with good reason, they’re constantly revealed as assholes that kill people b/c they can) and NRS knew people wouldn’t think Striker was cool like they did in 2011. I say its was a good call. I mean, no one was rooting for the police at that time and no one would want to play as him. I’ll say even with his inclusion here, he still isn’t really back. Its not the redesign from 2011, its the kinda goofy mall cop design from the 90’s. Just a Kameo lol.
