Ao3 gave me a bad feeling years ago. Seriously, I never fucked with Ao3 unless it was to support some fics my friends made. I just don’t trust anyone that puts “free speech” on a high pedestal and with good reason! Now everyones making the shocked pikachu face when the council of fanfics have some really zionist views. The kicker is that minorities have been saying there was a problem with racism for a while. The website that gives the green light to “slavery AUs” is suddenly going too far now.

Tho people are trying to deflect by claiming people are “making it about fiction” when people are literally pointing out all the bullshit they went through before this point. This stuff doesn’t just spring up out of no where, the rots been there for years and people are using this blow up to bring attention to what could possible lead to this point. And I bet the next time this happens, people will be talking about the weird zionist views they had.

Now, I don’t think AO3 should be eliminated. Its not like the terrible people on there will stop being terrible just because the site is gone (and its not like most social media doesn’t have similar policies), I just want people to know that its not some left-leaning haven like they keep advertising themselves. Its like when people were saying “girl boss” culture was empowering for women when most “girl bosses” would only ever hire a dark skinned person to clean their house.
