Anyone else notice how people will mitigate legit critique of edgy media with cries of people being “media illiterate puritan antis”? Idk sometimes it feel like darker subject matter is used as a shield to avoid criticism. I can understand this if the person raising this concern is a blabbering moron, but people that can articulate their thoughts, detail the context, tone, etc are treated with the same disregard. Like seriously, its really eye-rolling to see people sling “purity culture” no matter what you’re actually saying ( and its a frequently misused term too). Like no I’m sorry shit is shit no matter how edgy you make it.
