Invader Zim was an old kids show created by Jhonen Vasquez and aired on Nickelodeon from the ancient 2000s. Quick sparknotes backstory on this show: Nickelodeon commissioned a guy who at that point was only known for a comic about a serial killer to make a kids show- chaos ensued.

The original show was chock full of that early 2000’s LOL RANDOM humor. Some of it got a chuckle out of me but sometimes it would get pretty old. Like you’re just watching this like “wow a character yelling about tacos was peak comedy”. Tho you could compare some of the humor to TTG. IZ was funnier. There was a scene where you don’t see a character eating shit but you know he was just eating shit and its funny enough for them to get away with it. The time travel ep was one of the darker ones. Imagine using time travel to slowly make your enemy more and more disabled until you kill them gd.

You couldn’t deny the cultural impact of this show. Man it was in hot topic for years and all the merch in shit. It was still popular enough for them to make a whole a movie a couple of years ago (in hindsight Gaz might’ve been ooc in that movie). I’m not sure if would see a compete comeback since I think a lot of the charm comes from the time period it was created in. I mean this when I say I DONT wanna see IZ with modern humor. Maybe theres a way to make it work but I don’t trust anyone to pull it off. I like it overall! The humor was annoying but it was more about annoying the characters on screen than annoying the audience. Like its a show that has no animosity towards the viewer which is pretty refreshing because a lot of modern stuff feels like the writers hate you and don’t want you have any fun even if it is a comedy.
