I’m sure theres nothing that Tik Tok does thats somehow different than any other social media app. It just sounds like China panic. I mean “wh0ooo00 China wh00ooo00 gonna steal the data of some bumbly fuck nobody from Arkansas and take over the US wh0oo000! I mean, we have whole-ass “chat apps” where 90% of the function enables creepy adults to get at minors but no one wants to notice those.

Now, I don’t use Tik Tok. Its not on my phone, I hardly use any social media anymore b/c I hate social media. Even I don’t think should be outright banned. Banning it isn’t going to keep you data safe. Should we ban it? No. Should using these apps be discouraged? Yes. These apps still suck ass and we shouldn’t be using them for a majority of out social interaction. Social media replacing out third spaces both off and on the internet was the absolute worse thing to happen.
