Discourse about the declining birthrate keeps popping up more and more lately. I don’t really care. And thats because no one else really cares about it. Ok answer this riddle: It doesn’t matter how much money you use to bribe couples into having kids if its not a guaranteed livable amount of money. 5-10k is literally nothing and does not counter the artificially induced instability of our culture and economy. How many people aren’t even thinking about having kids because they aren’t even sure they’ll keep a job by next year. It doesn’t matter if its a low or high paying job or how good you are at that job; once some rich assholes decide they want to hoard more money you’re sacked and theres nothing you can do. Think you can just get another job by the end of the month? The end of the year? Good fucking luck. The bare bones rule we all heard growing up is: You Work; You Eat. Now everyone is working long hours and you can still lose everything at the drop of the hat. People are stuck living their cars and storage units.

Personally, I think most people who are crying about the birthrate don’t really care about that. they’re just antsy because women are doing whatever they want without input from a man. You’d be surprised at how many people on the left and right are offended by women having bodily autonomy and actually choosing to do their own thing. And I say that as someone who is occasionally a target of that rage. If this paragraph pissed you off, go feed worms.
