One thing that bothers me in the lads fandom is how people will hear someone getting offended about Valko supposedly breaking into mcs house (which there’s technically no evidence of b/c no one’s seen the full scene) then try to point out the other “problematic” elements of the game’s plot. But the issue is that people hear one dumb take and just parrot it without considering that there’s a difference between misogynistic or otherwise bigoted writing and a story that has a basic conflict in it. AND that’s when they aren’t totally wrong about what happens in the plot anyway.

You know I think this retort bothers me so much because there always a misogynistic element to this. People are alway trying to prove that women don’t mind abuse as much as we say and one way they do that is to point at stories aimed at women that have misogynistic bs in it and go “see? They love abuse” and in the case of lads it’s no different. The feminists should shut up because clearly no one cares! There are parallels to how people always manage to find the one poc that doesn’t mind the racism so everyone else should shut up. This has gone beyond lads now. I was just using it as a current example of how people do *the thing*.

And for the record, if lads did have a plot where Valko broke into mcs house and assaulted her then the plot proceeded to treat it like nothing that WOULDN’T be ok. We still live in a patriarchal hell hole where women are told to see this crap as normal and to not expect bodily autonomy. No it wouldn’t be fine if it was written by women. Women can be the biggest patriarchal warriors you’ll ever see. Hell, women get used as mouthpieces to make the demented shit that happens in patriarchy seem normal all the time. And yes patriarchy exists in China. Its all over the world.
