One more hottake for the night

Ok so there’s a part of the lads fandom that froths at the mouth when they see mcs face and the reason they give for why this game should hide her face more often is because that’s how otome games traditionally do it. Of course this is dumb as shit. Lads literally let’s you customize the mcs face and as far as I know that’s not a common feature to this genre. We are already ouside the tradition. The reason people are upset at the cover up is because they spent all that time working on the mcs face- a feature that the devs had in the game since day 1- only for the scene to cover it up entirely. See the devs decided to have customization options. It’s a literal feature in the game that people are using (I’d argue that it helped this game take off like it did becauseit was pretty unique) and they’ve rendered it all moot by barely showing it in scenes. Another reason I’ve seen is that it’s more “respectful” to the female player to never show her face and like what? Respectful to who? It’s not respectful to anyone who looks nothing like that. You might as well make it a separate character because that looks nothing like a good amount of people. Yea still don’t buy it.

I think the real reason they want her face covered is because other people who dont meet the “traditional” beauty standards might have a bit fun with this game and that’s waaaay too inclusive for their liking. Normally I wouldn’t come to this conclusion but after the valko situation, there were quite a few weirdos absolutely seething that people outside the “norm” might enjoy this game. The vibe was already there but it really bubbled to the surface after valko. Cuz like think about it: you don’t have to customize mc. You can just leave her with the generic default look and play it that way. They’re mad because other people are having fun.
